Ok, So I'm not as good as I had hoped to be on keeping this thing updated. But you have to understand...I'm a mother-life is never as easy as we make it seem to be.
Lets start off with the top and go down the list.
Randy turned 27 this month. He managed to take some time off from work. Other than that-he has just been hanging out at home with me and the kid (and the animals). Not much than that has been going in his work life---just being a slave like everyone else.
Blake started the third grade about two weeks ago. we kind of got off to a rocky start. We took some time off last week to go out camping and I had sent in a note to the teacher to send home any work that she would like to have him do while we were gone. Well, she didn't send home the work. He ended up going back to school Wednesday and when he came home, still no work. Thursday he comes home from school and has a stack of papers that he was suppose to do during the week. He tells us it is ALL DUE FRIDAY!!!WHAT THE HECK!! There was no way he was going to have enough time to get that work done, AND his regular homework. So I had him do SOME of the papers and sent in a note stating that the work will be turned in Monday. He comes home Friday telling us that his teacher kept him in for lunch because he did not complete his work.
So I go into the school Monday to talk to his teacher to find our exactly why she kept him in. She tells me she kept him in for "study hall" (not detention) because he had not completed his work. So I tell her-he didn't bring home the work until Thursday-he missed half the week AND I sent in a note stating when the work would be in. She proceeds to tell me that she keeps everyone in who has not completed their work so they do not get behind-my question is now-well what did he work on since I had all the papers AT HOME!!!!Granted I didn't get a chance to ask her because the bell was about to ring and she needed to get to the classroom. It is aggravating that I would send in a note ASKING for work-her NOT send it when I ask-but send it home the following Thursday saying it is due Friday and then keeping him IN class (with nothing to work on) because he didn't turn in the work. He should not be punished for something that is not his fault.
PLUS-We had back to school night tonight-the only thing she went over was how to browse around the TUSD (Tucson unified school district) website to see the curriculum...she didn't do ANYTHING else. I'm sorry but what kind of teacher is she??? I really hope it picks up better than what it has started to be.
On to a better subject-Blake tested for his next level in Taekwondo and got two more stripes on his yellow belt!! YAAAAY BLAKE! And cubscouts is also starting up again so we will be getting busy there too!
Now onto me! Yesterday was my 8 month mark!!! Well the beginning of my 8th month. 8 more weeks!!! little scary. Baby shower is a week and 4 days away. Looking forward to that. I do still need to take a recent picture of me-but I don't have one yet. Hopefully in the next couple days I can get one up before it gets toooooo late. I am down to my every two week doctor apt. Everything is going great. Baby is already upside down and doing what she needs to do. We don't have a name yet we are still working on it. The one that we are stuck on is Savannah Lynn. But it isn't sketched in stone yet. Baby's bedroom theme is Winnie the Pooh (thanks to my sister for all the pooh items!) Still need a hamper and some other items but the stuffed animal collection of pooh is complete.
That is the general catch up of us. We did recently go camping and we did recently get a new vehicle. I will post another blog about those in the next few days...hopefully. But for now-this should give you a quick run down of what is going on in our lives. I know it was kind of long-but...that's what happens when don't blog in a few months. Until next time...

ABOUT TIME! LOL! I love reading your blogs! And I don't know if I would have the patience you do with Blake's teacher. It is times like those I wish we were back at POPE! :)
~Keely
I agree with Keely, school life was so much better at Pope. My advice is to get her school email address. I did that last year with Thomas's teacher simply because with such a large amount of kids at the school and in the classroom, it was almost impossible to check on things with the teacher like I always have before school in the am. If I had a concern, a question or anything, I would email her and would usually get a response within the hour. I stopped with paper notes because I was afraid the notes would get lost in the abyss of Thomas's desk or backpack. It worked out very well for me and his teacher enjoyed it too. Try it and see if she will give it to you. You are his mom and a very invovled parent (which is hard to come by these days) it is your right to have access to his teacher. Let me know how it turnes out.
Keri has awesome advice. Being a teacher, I just have to say sometimes it is really hard to get a lot of work together ahead of time. I don't have stuff all ready to go for next week (and it's Wednesday already). The beginning of the year is really stressful for teachers. I understand your points as a parent and the teacher should have handled the situation better and given him the appropriate time to do it. I know for me, it is really difficult to keep track of the kids who are absent, what they missed, and need to make up, etc. Elementary schools are different though. For me, I have 120 some students to keep track of. Anyway, I hope things get better. Don't be offended by her actions. Just keep in contact with her.
I hope your baby shower goes well. When are you going to visit Fresno again? Take care!
Savannah Lynn is very purtty! And I like how there's no E! ;)
How exciting!!! Baby #2!!!!
